How I learned about LANY: A Short Story

I’m so happy that you’re here and most probably the reason why you’re here is because you’re also a huge LANY( pronounced as LEYNI ) fan!

But first, let me tell you my story.

I couldn’t remember the year, it was 2017 I guess when I first heard the song “Super Far”. At first I didn’t know the title of the song, all I knew is that I kept hearing the word super far from home from the lyrics and it stuck, like crazy.

Back then, I didn’t care to check who the band or the person was behind the song all I knew was that I loved hearing super far from home. I always hear it on the radio and I would get super excited about it!

Then I started hearing ILYSB as well on the radio, not knowing that they are the same band that sang Super Far.

And come June of 2019, I still haven’t heard of Lany. I got kilig with one of my chatmates and I just got inspired by the song Super Far that I searched it on Youtube then I finally I saw the word Lany. To be honest at first I thought it was the name of the person who sang the song.

I remember being so mesmerized by the music video wherein Paul, Les and Jake danced the whole song Super Far and I watched it over and over again.

And so I got hooked. I found Paul to be super attractive so I typed Lany in hopes of getting to know more about him cause I got obsessed to people who are awesome just like that and I discovered that they are a band.

Then I started playing Good Girls, Malibu Nights, Thick and Thin and Thru these tears on Youtube and fell deeply madly in love with Lany that I wanted to see them perform live.

One morning at work I searched their official website and a tab that says TOUR appeared.

It was like a divine revelation to me.

I saw that they have 3 sold out concerts happening on July 23-25 and it was just one month before those dates and so I panicked.

I tried calling SM tickets and inquired for tickets but to no avail.

Then it hit me, maybe there’s a Lany Philippines fan page on Facebook. So I searched and stumbled upon a few.

I joined and saw a seller of tickets and the rest as they say, is history.

My sister and I got the Patron Sides ticket and we were so close to the stage it felt surreal.

We attended the last day of the concert and the fans were so wild and seeing Paul sing live on stage was such a treat! I also was very inspired by Jake’s drum playing and Les’ guitar skills. They even have a new member of the family, “ a new friend” as Paul would have said, his name is Julius and he plays the guitar.

It was one unforgettable night of my entire life and I hope LANY would come back in our lives forever! Their songs have a certain feel and beat to it , I can’t quite put a name to it but it’s what made Lany the band that it is now.
