Many times in life, we often overlook the little blessings that come our way. Whether that be at home, at work or with our friends and loved ones, we tend to miss the essence of those little things that really matter which makes us depressed, anxious or stressed in life.
I have been there. I actually have been depressed too a few years ago when I failed to appreciate my family, my job and my life in its entirety. It was the lowest point in my life and I would do everything in my power in this present moment not to go back to that state and continue living my best life in the now.
Curious about what I did to get me out of the depressive rut? Read on, Raw Beauty!
1. Journaling
Writing has helped me so much to get in touch with my emotions and myself on a deeper level. It has allowed me to be honest to myself and my family and has honed my self confidence in such a way that I get to know myself more and I get to speak my truth when I talk to anyone. When feeling anxious, try grabbing a pen and paper and start flowing with your thoughts and see how therapeutic it is to finally express yourself in writing form. You can feel your anxiety go away and transferring to paper which in turn you can burn to symbolize its death in your waking life.
2. Change of mindset
I’ve been working for a couple of years now but my attitude and mindset about work hasn’t always been as pleasant as it is now. Before, I would usually treat it as a chore to wake up early and grind in the office for another full day. But by gradually changing my mindset from “I have to get to work” to “I get to go to work”, there had been massive shifts in my mood, thinking and attitude. Oh and even my overall performance at work improved. I’m more motivated now to wake up early and go to work, and more focused on accomplishing the tasks given for the day. From seeing work as a chore, I see it now as a blessing, a means for financial abundance in my life and a means of joy that I can provide for my loved ones and family. So if there’s something in your life that is not flowing freely and smoothly as you would like it to be, try approaching it with a change of mindset and see how it works wonders into your life.
3.Eating a healthy, balanced diet
I can clearly remember back then when I was fit and lean, I would have major panic attacks or major headache and dizziness due to not eating properly. There was one time I woke up and felt like puking and dizzy and my instincts told me that I needed food. I took a cab and went to Juicesabel in The Collective Makati and ordered way ahead their opening time. Thank you Juicesabel for accommodating my request for that Mushroom Sisig even though you’re not yet open during that time, you guys saved my life. That experience taught me a valuable lesson: to take good care of your health through a balanced of proper nutrition and diet. When you nourish your body properly, you nourish your mind and soul as well. I recommend eating High Vibrational foods such as raw veggies and fruits cause they’re light and easy to digest. But also as with Ayurvedic teachings, our body needs warming foods as well so might as well enjoy cooked foods such as curried vegetables, brown rice and even pizzas and pastas. Just remember to have everything in moderation and eat healthy 80% of the time. J
These are just a few of the not so kept secrets to living a happy and grateful life. Sometimes, we just need reminding of all of these stuff and it helps us get back on track. J
I hope this article helped you so much or even a bit! Either way, thank you for reading all the way through, I really appreciate you! J
